Hoods for heritage
Time is the Limit
Under the rubric of "Hoods for Heritage", sixteen local artists working in different disciplines, were commissioned by the Porsche Center Lebanon’s Arts for Society initiative to design a Porsche 911 hood as a unique piece of art.
The brief for project was to play with the perception of Porsche as a very male, almost iconic object that somehow represents virility.
Karen Chekerdjian decided to turn this perception on its head by approaching the project through embroidery, work traditionally done by women, which she felt would lend the brand a more sensitive feel.
Her submission, entitled ‘Time is the limit’, refers both to the time and patience required of the seamstresses to make the piece and also to a craft that despite our era’s demand for ever-increasing speed, requires time to be made.
