Karen Chekerdjian
Solo Show in Design Miami/Basel
After Beirut Art Center, Karen Chekerdjian presented her new collection "Trans|Form" for the first time on the international scene during the Design Miami/Basel Fair in collaboration with Carwan Gallery.
She is the first Lebanese artist to participate in Basel fair with a solo show.
She was very well received by the worldwide press and curators along with collectors.
Designing emerges from the familiar, the ordinary, the patterns of nature, the rhythm of routine, the materiality of the everyday.
Moments are indistinct, origins are arbitrary, endings are capricious.
Forms are undefined, constantly changing circumstances and rearranging states.
Movement towards potentialities for change and the extraordinary.
Continuos becoming

How One Fair And One Woman Are Changing The World Of Design
That Design Miami/Basel recorded its largest attendance to date this year — reportedly
including Philippe Segalot and Tracy Emin — says more about the event’s importance than first might come to mind: because as design grows in popularity (and value), the
awareness of design, as both a practice and as an integral, meaningful part of our lives,
widens its reach around the world.
And that means that lives, even cultures, change.
Few people can attest to this better than Lebanese designer Karen Chekerdjian, whose poetic, sculptural, and ever-fascinating furnishings accessories and objets have made her not just one of my own favorite contemporary designers, but a star in her native Beirut. And the light around her is growing brighter.

"Carwan Gallery presents a solo exhibition of the Lebanese designer Karen Chekerdjian in
collaboration with Foundation Bogossian. Trans|Form is a collection of limited edition objects inspired by the idea of transformed and transforming objects. A dining table becomes a rock formation; a vase becomes a sheet of metal; a platform becomes a lamp…’A plurality of different material and functional beginnings metamorphose into different states, changed conditions and varied modalities” says the gallery."

“Carwan Gallery’s solo installation of works by Beirut-based Karen Chekerdjian highlighted the designer’s sinuous and graphic language, her monumental light pieces effectively stealing the show.”
